Devotions Meme

Katherine tagged me.

I tag Lisa, Michele, and Cay.

1. Favorite devotion or prayer to Jesus?

The Infant of Prague Novena. It's actually on my sidebar.

2. Favorite Marian devotion or prayer?

The Rosary.  I pray the Joyful and Sorrowful mysteries in the morning before everyone gets up, and the kids and I pray the 5 mysteries for the day around 8 o'clock in the morning as my husband gets on the train. My dream is to pray 5 decades with my husband before bed.

3. Do you wear a scapular or medal

I wear both, although I recently lost my Miraculous medal and haven't replaced it.

4. Do you have holy water in your home?

Yes. By the front door. It's an Infant of Prague holy water font I bought in Puerto Rico last year.

5. Do you offer up your sufferings?

I try to. That's a tough one.

6. Do you observe First Fridays and First Saturdays?

We've tried for years to do both, but we have yet to succeed.

7. Do you go to Eucharistic Adoration? How frequently?

At my old parish we had Adoration Friday to Saturday morning. I used to go every Second Saturday at our old parish at 6 am, but since we moved a year ago,  I haven't been able to make it. We do have all day Adoration on First Fridays here.

8. Are you a Saturday evening Mass person or Sunday morning Mass person?

Sunday morning.

9. Do you say prayers at mealtime?

Yes. Grace and the Angelus.

10. Favorite Saint(s)?

The Blessed Mother, St. Joseph, St. Therese of the Little Flower, St. Monica, and St. Dymphna.

St. Maximillian Kolbe, how could I forget you?

11. Can you recite the Apostles Creed by heart?

Yes.

12. Do you usually say short prayers (aspirations) during the course of the day?

Yes. When I look at the picture of my children in the "Rosary Room", I say, Thank you, Jesus.

13.  Where is your favorite place to pray?

Our Living Room. We renamed it, "The Rosary Room". These pictures and images help us focus. The last picture is an Apostolic Blessing from the Holy Father for our 18th wedding anniversary.

Yes, we say a Hail Mary.

15. Helen's bonus question: If you could visit any of Our Lady’s apparition sites, which one would you choose?

Our Lady of Guadalupe Basilica in Mexico.

Novena to Saint Joseph

  • Oh, St. Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the throne of God, I place in you all my interests and desires. Oh St. Joseph, do assist me by your powerful intercession, and obtain for me from your divine Son all spiritual blessings, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. So that, having engaged here below your heavenly power, I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most loving of Fathers. Oh, St. Joseph, I never weary contemplating you, and Jesus asleep in your arms; I dare not approach while He reposes near your heart. press Him in my name and kiss His fine head for me and ask Him to return the kiss when I draw my dying breath. St. Joseph, Patron of departing souls, Pray for us. Amen.

St. Thérèse Rose prayer novena

O Little Flower of Jesus, ask God today to grant the favors I now place with confidence in your hands ….. (Mention specific requests) St. Thérèse, help me to always believe as you did, in God’s great love for me, so that I might imitate your “Little Way” each day. Amen

  • O Jesus I turn toward the holy tabernacle where You live hidden for love of me. I love You, O my God. I cannot receive You in Holy Communion. Come nevertheless and visit me with Your grace. Come spiritually into my heart. Purify it. Sanctify it. Render it like unto Your own. Amen.

Prayer for another child

  • Lovely Lady of La Leche, most loving mother of the Child Jesus, and my mother, listen to my humble prayer. Your motherly heart knows my every wish, my every need. To you only, His spotless Virgin Mother, has your Divine Son given to understand the sentiments which fill my soul. Yours was the sacred privilege of being the Mother of the Savior. Intercede with him now, my loving Mother, that, in accordance with His will, I may become the mother of other children of our heavenly Father. This I ask, O Lady of La Leche, in the Name of your Divine Son, My Lord and Redeemer. Amen.

Prayer to the Infant of Prague

  • O merciful Infant Jesus! I know of Thy miraculous deeds for the sick...in view of the innumerable graces and the cures granted...through the veneration of Thy Holy Infancy, particularly in the statue of Prague...I exclaim with the greatest assurance: O most loving...Infant Jesus, Thou canst cure ___ if Thou wilt! Extend Thy holy hand and by Thy power take away all pain and infirmity. Amen.

Act Of Resignation To The Divine Will

  • O Lord my God, I now, from this moment do I accept from Thy hands, with burning love and sincere contrition, with a calm and willing disposition, whatsoever death Thou shalt choose to send me, with its pains and griefs. Amen.

Prayer for Purity

  • Dearest Jesus! I know well that every perfect gift, and above all others that of chastity, depends upon the most powerful assistance of Thy Providence, and that without Thee a creature can do nothing. Therefore, I pray Thee to defend, with Thy grace, chastity and purity in my soul as well as in my body. And if I have ever received through my senses any impression that could stain my chastity and purity, do Thou, Who art the Supreme Lord of all my powers, take it from me, that I may with an immaculate heart advance in Thy love and service, offering myself chaste all the days of my life on the most pure altar of Thy Divinity. Amen. -St. Thomas Aquinas

Prayer for Priests

  • O God, Who hast appointed Thine only-begotten Son to be the eternal High Priest for the glory of Thy Majesty and the salvation of mankind; grant that they whom He hath chosen to be His ministers and the stewards of His Mysteries, may be found faithful in the fulfillment of the ministry which they have received. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer for the beatification of Frank Duff

  • God our Father, You inspired your servant Frank Duff with a profound insight into the mystery of Your Church, the Body of Christ, and of the place of Mary the Mother of Jesus in this mystery. In his immense desire to share this insight with others and in filial dependence on Mary he formed her Legion to be a sign of her maternal love for the world and a means of enlisting all her children in the Church's evangelising work. We thank you Father for the graces conferred on him and for the benefits accruing to the Church from his courageous and shining faith. With confidence we beg You that through his intercession you grant the petition we lay before You . ............... We ask too that if it be in accordance with Your will, the holiness of his life may be acknowledged by the Church for the glory of your Name, through Christ Our Lord, Amen.
