Yesterday afternoon we lost power due to the blizzard of 2010, which dumped 18" of snow in our small little town. Luckily, we have a wood stove in the basement, which kept us warm throughout the day until we finally went to bed under a cover of many blankets. The kids had a wonderful time playing in the dark the girls had a slumber party in the girls' room and the 4 little ones slept in our bedroom where we read to the little ones by candlelight. It was so good to have silence. Such peace! No music, no videos, no phones ringing. Complete silence! Just the sound of the children talking and running around laughing and getting along like never before. I was disappointed when the electricity came back on this morning. We had such a lovely evening and I hope we can recapture that feeling again. We made such wonderful memories and I'm so glad the camera was charged before we lost power.
Dinner and keeping a journal by candlelight
a good book is always nice by soft light
eating dinner while catching up on a college essay without internet :)
Rosary by candlelight
And the best part of the night, having a big slumber party with all your sisters.
In the morning, we made breakfast and a pot of soup for lunch and dinner on the wood stove.
Thank you, dear Lord for all the blessings in our lives.
