We live in a cul de sac on almost half an acre at the top of a hill. When we moved here to this new neighborhood almost 7 years ago our yard was completely bare. This was great for my husband since he's such an amazing artist. It was like having a blank canvas from which to start his landscaping. We have a very small front yard as you can see here and the side and the back yard are one huge hill. There's not much you can do with it, but my husband has patiently carved it by hand with a spade and shaped it into this beautiful little paradise. :)

Here is our front yard where we have a few herbs growing in the rock garden. There's a little walking path made from small pieces of pink flagstone. The Mary garden is on the left side of the front porch,

a hummingbird garden and small grape vine are on the right side of the porch.

As you come around the left side of the house you can see the 3 tiered garden my husband built and part of the sitting area right below it. Our back yard was one huge hill before he leveled into different sections.

Here is a lovely sitting are made last Winter. Don't you just love the rustic table he made out of an old flower box and a leftover piece of Flagstone? :)

This is part of the vegetable garden. In the Fall we grew peas, lettuce, broccoli, kale, cabbage and spinach. We still have a few of those left since we had such a mild winter. We also have potatoes, peas, and a few strawberry plants as ground cover. As soon as he takes out the Fall crops, we'll plant a few more tomatoes, peppers, zuchini and posibbly squash.

This is the other side of the of the veggie garden where not much is planted but a few Daylilies and Irises. He also planted 2 Lilac bushes a little over to the left of the yard.

Our back yard is separated into thirds and this is the middle of the yard. You can see the Leeland Cypress he planted when we moved in 6 years ago. On the right you can see some of the blackberry bushes, which he planted as a natural fence. Right in front of the blackberry bushes is where we planted 8 tomato plants. (This was taken 2 weeks ago before we planted them.) The other side of the yard is a hill where we have the wheat, peas and fruit trees and the rest of the vegetable garden.

ETA- This is one of our chicken coops, just under the deck. The other one is on the other side of the house. Since we live in a neighborhood, we have to keep them confined, but we take them out one at a time on the weekends and let them forage on the scratch grains growing around the coop. Eventually, there will be a fenced in area just below the coop and then we can leave them out all day.

This is our sweet Angela getting the ground ready for the corn right after Mass this morning. The peas are right behind her and the wheat is on the right side. The beehive is way in the back almost at the end of our property. The fruit trees are about 15 feet in front of the hive. Since the back yard is such a steep hill, everything is tiered with a narrow walking path between sections.

Yesterday, Angela helped little Maria get her own little garden plot. Those 2 little girls really love working outdoors with their Daddy. You can also see Kolbe way in the back digging a hole for 2 pear trees we will be planting...as soon as my darling husband buys them. ;-)
