The kids have been busy putting on puppet shows, playing with the boys' old medievil castle and pirate ships, illustrating books with beeswax crayons and sketching some really awesome pictures out of this Drawing: Faces & Features book. Our 13 year old son Kolbe has even been teaching himself "Python and C+" computer language so he can write his own iPhone and iPad apps. These kids seem to always be off somewhere doing their own thing, especially when I'm trying to get them together for lessons. I tend to get stressed out about making them finish their assigned work, but I try to remind myself that they're really learning, even if it's not what I would pick out for them during formal school hours. It doesn't help when the UPS truck arrives with goodies for the Art corner. They tend to go through art supplies pretty fast around here, especially water colors and color pencils.
